About the Merrigalah Project
The Merrigalah Project is to be registered as an educational and research charity with six main purposes:
- To attract funding through sufficient individual and / or corporate charitable, tax-free donations (together with hoped-for government grants);
- To complete thorough testing programs for the purpose of having strawbale accredited as a 'mainstream' building material under Australia's Uniform Building Code;
- To educate and inform the public about strawbale building;
- To develop the use of strawbale as a low-cost, environmentally beneficial, mainstream building material;
- To establish a database of worldwide strawbale information and references;
- To establish a reference library of worldwide strawbale information whether in written, photographic, video, or electronic form.
