Interns Work with Aborigines

Two young women who have trained at The Seed Centre have been working in schools in the Northern Territory, Australia, with aborigines.

Seed Savers intern, Cheze Darville, her husband and two sons performed and taught in aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory during June and July.

Cheze has incorporated what she learnt in her three months seed saver training into her African dance lessons. The family have lived, studied and taught at the village level in Gambia and on an island in The Philippines.

They performed at schools in Groote Eylandt, Port Keats, Nhulunby (Gove) and Yirrkala. Cheze organised events on GE food and seeds for Africa locally. We are very happy to have such a dynamic promoter of seed saving on our team.

April course participant, Robyn Goodin who stayed an extra week for training is now teaching, gardening and seed saving in the primary school on the Peppimenati aboriginal community near Port Keats.
