To contact us write to: Helen Fallshaw, 15 Marina Road, Mentone, 3194 Meetings: Quarterly, the month before each season so that we have seeds for the next planting season. We meet at different places each time so we can see one another's gardens. Next meeting: 18th August 2001 Activities: One unusual thing we have from Andrew Cox is Yakon (Polymnia sonchifolia) which is an edible rooted dahlia. It has a sweet flavour, is eaten in various ways: - raw when it is a bit like a tasteless apple, - sliced thinly and cooked in stir fries, when the crunchiness comes to the fore, or - baked, when it tastes like pineapple. We started in May 2000 and would welcome others in the area. Our area: Mentone is south east of Melbourne, by the sea, has sandy soil, warmer than Melbourne.
