Buckminster Fuller helped bring this concept into reality back in the early 50's and it's been a solutions generator ever since.
The basic idea is that a group of people agree to climb inside a "SIM Earth" sort of game space and try to confront the entire range of contemporary problems with the goal of "winning" . . . that is, finding the general principles behind sustainable human existence.
